Heat Relief at the AWCA Gym

22 Jul

Heat Can Take a Hike

This morning I put in a portable evap cooler in our gym. It was an iffy decision since the humidity is too high to run them, but I also needed to consider finances, time to install an a/c unit, etc. During the winter time I will be installing a door unit and prepping for next summer; for now, though, we can make it through this summer with the evap cooler.

When you live in Phoenix and have a home gym, you can basically forget training in the summer time if you have no cooling to work with. It might be 100-degrees outside but it can hit 120+ inside the gym. With no humidity, evap coolers are the way to go (it is like getting out of the pool and feeling cold, even though it is 100+ degrees). When the humidity starts, though, you can forget all that.

The good thing with the new cooler is that the new fan is probably one of the best I have seen. Very powerful by itself, but also blowing cool air? That is enough to get us through the summer so you cannot ask for more than that (besides, we are tough. We have made it through a lot worse than this, but why bother when at least you can whack each other in comfort?) ;)

So the good news is that our videos, photo shoots, etc., are now full steam ahead without having to schedule around the heat issue. This is exciting for me since I am on track for getting a lot of media completed and made available this year.
